Lancaster and Lebanon, PA Christian Home Birth Doula
Empowering women to have natural, faith-filled, and peaceful births at home by helping them trust God’s good design, tune into their instincts, and prepare holistically for the sacred work of birth.
Birth is holy ground—it’s a place where trust is tested, surrender is practiced, and a woman steps into motherhood in a profound and lasting way.
Birth was designed by God TO WORK. Birth was designed with intention and beauty. Yet time and again, the medical system, albeit often with good intentions, interrupts that intuitive process to “help” and “save” women. In that process of “helping,” the very problems that they are trying to avoid are actually being caused.
This is because birth was never meant to be micromanaged… confined to a bed, rushed with Pitocin or other augmentation measures, or controlled through constant checks, protocols, and procedures. Once one intervention begins, it often leads to another, and before you know it, many women find themselves on the other side with a difficult and sometimes traumatic story.
BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY. It’s time for you to take radical responsibility for you and your baby’s emotional, spiritual, and physical health. What many women don’t realize is that the way you give birth has a lasting ripple effect on your postpartum healing, your confidence as a mother, and even your baby’s nervous system.
That’s where your birth doula can help reclaim what’s yours.
God is inviting you on a sacred journey!
He chose you to be this child’s parents and has given you wisdom, discernment, and authority to make the best decisions for your family.
My role as a doula is not to do the work for you, but empower you to trust birth, trust your body, and trust God.
Whether you’re already immersed in birth education or just beginning to explore your options, I meet you exactly where you are. I come alongside you as:
a guide on unfamiliar terrain
a steady leader who empowers you advocate with confidence
a teacher who helps understanding move from your head to your heart
and a sister who nurtures and supports you, even when you don’t yet know what you need
I also come alongside husbands—equipping him with tools, education, and reassurance—so he doesn’t have to wing it, but can step fully into his role as your primary support.
Finally, I work alongside your midwife as part of a unified team, ensuring you feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually supported through every stage of your birth journey.
Don’t just take my word for it! Here’s what my clients have to say about their experiences:

I’m here for you every step of the way! You can text or call me with your questions, or concerns, or just to chat about how you’re feeling. Whether it’s something your provider said or you just need reassurance, I’ll provide guidance and resources so you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m a huge voice message person, so you can anticipate messaging back and forth just like we’ve been long lost friends.
-
Two different times, we’ll meet in your home to talk through your hopes, goals, and any concerns for your birth.
You can ask me questions, and we will even write a birth plan together!
I’ll help you and your partner prepare with resources and information so you feel confident and ready for your baby’s big day by doing some practice positions together and stretches/exercises to prepare your body!
-
I provide evidence-based information and practical tips for a healthy pregnancy. While I’m not a certified nutritionist, I'm SUPER passionate about minerals, protein, and mainly just supporting our body with food!
I’ll give you non-medical tips, resources, and referrals to help you stay low-risk in pregnancy, and make the best choices for you and your baby.
-
Once we’re in the final weeks, I’ll be available 24/7, ready to come by your side no matter the time of day.
-
When labor begins, I’ll be there for you and your partner to provide comfort, reassurance, and help you feel seen and supported.
I’ll bring candles, essential oils, music, fairy lights, a heating pad, and a calm, grounding presence to help create a peaceful and empowering environment. Whether you need quiet encouragement, hands-on support, or suggestions for labor positions, I’ll show up however you need.
My approach is very autonomous, meaning I encourage you to follow your body. However, if labor is not progressing (baby is not engaging, labor is starting and stopping, you are having a long pushing phase, etc), I’m more than happy to bring my knowledge from experience and Spinning Babies to the table and help you through position changes to help encourage labor to progress.
As a Christian, I believe birth is a deeply spiritual experience. If you share that belief, I’ll be there not just as your doula, but as a prayerful presence, pointing you toward Him and standing in faith with you as you bring your baby into the world.
-
I can capture those special moments during labor and birth with my iPhone, giving you keepsakes to cherish forever.
-
After your baby arrives, I’ll come to your home to check in, debrief your birth, and offer guidance on breastfeeding, recovery, and adjusting to life with your little one.
During the first few weeks, I’ll be available by text or call to answer questions about feeding, sleep, or anything else that comes up as you settle into this new chapter.
-

I’m Karissa!
I am a Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator with a deep passion for physiological, Spirit-led birth. To me, birth is more than a medical event; it’s a sacred gift from God, designed to be honored and protected.
I believe birth unfolds best when it is undisturbed and when mothers feel supported emotionally, spiritually, and practically. My role is to help you prepare in all of these areas so you can enter labor with peace, confidence, and connection to both your body and the Lord.
I’ve supported over 100 women through birth, many of whom chose unmedicated paths, and I’ve witnessed how powerful and transformative birth can be when it’s approached with reverence and trust. Because I hold this work as sacred, I am very intentional and passionate about the families I serve.
I’d love to connect face-to-face and see if we’re the right fit.

When you hire me as your doula, you’re not just paying for my presence at your birth—you’re investing in years of experience, over 100 births attended, and the heart, prayer, time, and energy I pour into every woman and family I support.
Birth work is sacred, but it’s also demanding. Being on-call 24/7 means rearranging life at a moment’s notice and holding space for deeply emotional moments. This work is intense, immersive, and incredibly personal—and I do it because I believe your birth matters.
I also believe in being fully transparent about where your investment goes. Here's how I’ve broken down my pricing for my $1,600 package:

Travel time + gas (average 4 hrs driving): $100

I only schedule 3 moms every month, so its rare for this to happen. Even if I try to schedule things perfectly, one baby may want to come 2 weeks late, and the other one 3 weeks early.
So, the answer is, I work with a backup doula.
I work with a couple of Christian doulas who are also my dear friends. If I would suddenly get sick, have a family emergency, be at another birth, or need to leave town for something, you would be in GREAT hands.

At this time, I am no longer accepting new clients who are planning hospital births. ❤️
After attending well over 100 births, both in hospitals and at home, I feel clearly led in this season to specialize in faith-filled homebirth support. Homebirth is where I’m best able to support natural, faith-filled, and undisturbed birth, and where my gifts are used most fully.
I recognize that homebirth is not the right choice for every family, and I deeply respect the discernment that goes into choosing the setting that feels safest to you. If you’re planning a hospital birth, I’m happy to connect you with a trusted local doula who continues to serve hospital clients with excellence.
**I do continue to support repeat hospital clients, close friends, and family, and homebirth clients who experience a transfer to the hospital
If you’re unsure whether homebirth is right for you, I’d still love to connect and help you discern your options.
-
I will still 100% support you and go along with you!
I will be there to help explain to you and your partner what is happening so that you both feel informed and less afraid.
I believe homebirth is normally a safe and beautiful place to have your baby, but I also believe that it’s not homebirth at any cost.
I will stay right by your side through the whole process to help the transfer feel as calm and peaceful as possible.

Yes, many! Both in and out of the hospital! I even have supported several VB2Cs!! (Vaginal Birth After 2 C-sections)
-
Whether your C-section is planned or unplanned, I am here to support you. I spell this all out in the contract which I will provide for you after our consultation call:
If a delivery turns into an unplanned/emergency c-section after I’ve already provided labor support, no refund.
If late in pregnancy, you switch from a planned vaginal delivery to a planned c-section on/before 35+6 weeks, you can choose between having me with you in the OR/hospital, or me not coming at all. If you choose to have me not support your birth at all and let me know on for before 35+6weeks, you receive a $400 refund. If the switch to a planned C-section happens on/after 36 weeks, I’m happy to support you in any way you need, but if you choose not to have me in the OR or at the hospital, there is no refund.
My goal is to ensure you feel supported and empowered, no matter how your birth unfolds.
